Mills, mini-mills and foundries prefer this to ordinary HMS 1&2 because it is of much higher quality, coming from what originally was Secondary Pipe material which was unusable because of very serious Secondary defects. This Pipe material is processed in such a way that the resulting product looks very much like a very beautiful rectangular bar. As a point of information, this Pipe material was originally either Galvanized or Hot Rolled.

It is economically advantageous to use this particular "specialty" Scrap instead of ordinary HMS 1&2 because far fewer additives and different, less expensive, additives have to be used when melting the "Foundry" or "Busheling" Scrap. It is also, obviously, much simpler to use.

Following is the description of ISRI Code 242 to which, as said, this extremely high- quality Scrap strictly conforms: "Foundry steel, 2 feet and under. Steel scrap 1/8 inch and over in thickness, not over 2 feet in length or 18 inches in width. Individual pieces free from attachments. May not include nonferrous metals, cast or malleable iron, cable, vitreous enameled, or metal coated material."

Please let us know as soon as possible of your interest in this material. Material is subject to prior sale and prices and availability are subject to prevailing market conditions.
